Our Story
Applied Bio-Process Expertise

Deltra Labs was founded in 2026 by Timo van Roosmalen and is based in the south of the Netherlands. Deltra Labs provides contract research and interim R&D support for organizations in industrial biotechnology and related sectors.
Timo is a passionate biotech- and process technologist who believes that microbial fermentation can play a key role in developing innovations that make the world a better place. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to contribute to several patents and scientific publications, set up three biotechnology laboratories, and isolate novel microbial platform strains. One of the aspects he enjoys most is scaling fermentation processes, and he has successfully scaled multiple organisms from shake flask experiments to 300 L bioreactors. He enjoys solving practical R&D challenges and helping bridge the gap between promising ideas and robust, scalable bioprocesses.
The organization brings experience from more than 20 succeeded CRO and projects across a broad range of biotech applications. These projects primarily focused on industrial biotechnology, working with diverse organisms including bacteria, yeast, and fungi. Areas of expertise include strain development, optimization of cultivation strategies at lab and pilot scale, development of downstream processing workflows, and implementation of novel high-throughput analytical methods.
In addition to executing R&D projects, Deltra Labs supports organizations with setting up new research facilities, developing in-house analytical methods, and scaling fermentation processes from lab to pilot scale. The team combines hands-on technical expertise with a pragmatic, results-driven approach, enabling clients to accelerate development and reduce technical risk.
Deltra Labs is available for both contract research projects and interim R&D assignments.
