From flask to fermenter, faster, with better strains

Deltra Labs is an industrial biotech CRO based in the Netherlands. We develop fermentation processes from scratch and improve microbial strains using non-GMO classical methods for pharma, food, feed, and chemical industry clients.

Bio-Process Development & Optimisation

We develop fermentation and downstream processing workflows for new and existing bioprocesses. Focused on yield, titer, scalability, and commercial viability.

Novel Concepts to Reality

We bridge the gap between scientific concepts and industrial application — including fermentation routes for target compounds and valorisation of agro-industrial side streams.

What we do

Four ways Deltra Labs accelerates your industrial biotech programme.

Classical Strain Improvement

We improve microbial strains using non-GMO mutagenesis, adaptive evolution, and targeted screening. No GMO regulatory burden — full IP flexibility for your team.

Dynamic Innovation

Got an unconventional idea or technically challenging biotech concept? We enjoy working where standard approaches stop. Let us explore it with you.

Questions we hear often

Who owns the IP and improved strains?

All strains, process data, and intellectual property developed during your project are fully assigned to you at project close. Deltra Labs retains no rights to your project output.

Can you work with confidential or proprietary organisms?

Yes. We sign a mutual NDA before any technical discussion begins. Your organisms and project details are handled with complete confidentiality.

Do you support regulatory submissions?

We provide complete strain pedigree documentation and process characterisation data. Our classical strain improvement approach avoids GMO classification in most regulatory frameworks, giving you full flexibility.

Can Deltra Labs also work as an interim R&D partner, not just a CRO?

Yes. In addition to contract research projects, Timo is available for interim R&D assignments — including setting up new research facilities, developing in-house analytical methods, and scaling fermentation processes.

Who you work with

Timo van Roosmalen

Timo founded Deltra Labs after years of hands-on experience in industrial biotechnology. He has contributed to multiple patents and scientific publications, established three biotechnology laboratories, and successfully scaled fermentation processes from shake flask to 300L bioreactor across more than 20 CRO and R&D projects. His focus is on practical, results-driven bioprocess work, bridging the gap between promising scientific ideas and robust, scalable production processes.

Multiple patents & publications

Based in the south of the Netherlands. Available for CRO projects and interim R&D assignments across Europe.
